Charlie Bates founded Bates Building & Carpentry in 1978 after completing a course in carpentry and joinery in his home city of Bristol. Through creating personal projects under the Bates name Charlie soon became known for his high level of skill, knowledge of the industry and a fine attention to detail. Soon after he found himself in demand and began to create commission work as a private contractor, working on larger and more notable projects which would include the castle at Disneyland Paris and the Ministry of Defence building located in Filton, Abbey Wood. Now with over 39 years of experience under his belt Charlie Bates supplies a wide range of carpentry and project management services in and around Bristol, UK.
Following in his father’s footsteps, George Bates took an early interest in carpentry choosing to study carpentry and joinery at the City of Bristol College. After graduating George opted for an apprenticeship working under the guidance and tutelage of his father. After completion of his apprenticeship George started working independently on larger projects such as the Cabot Circus shopping centre in Bristol as well as constructing tree houses for Squirrel Design. In addition to this George has notable domestic experience and is an expert in kitchen fittings working in the Bristol area and around the UK.
Both George and Charlie are dedicated to delivering top quality services and ensuring the needs of each customer are fully met. With Charlie’s years of knowledge and expertise combined with Georges youthful approach to design and modern influences, as well as both having a strong commitment to quality they were able to build a strong working relationship.
